Hiring Employees
Although there are exceptional circumstances under which a waiver to post a permanent position may be permitted, the University of Arkansas is an institution committed to taking affirmative action to ensure equal opportunity for all applicants and, therefore, requires posting and advertising of vacant faculty and staff positions.
Appointed Faculty and Staff
All recruitment, selection and hiring of faculty and staff is managed in Workday. Applicants apply through the Workday Careers website.
Internal Mobility
Internal postings, promotions, transfers and demotions are managed in Workday. For assistance with positing waivers (promotions, transfers and demotions), refer to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance (OEOC) for instructions.
Temporary Appointments and Hourly Positions
Advertising is encouraged but not required for temporary appointments of one year or less and for extra-help hourly positions. Departments can request a RazorTemp or hire an extra help hourly employee on a temporary, as-needed basis to meet staffing needs.
Nonresident Aliens
New employee paperwork for all foreign nationals (nonresident aliens) is managed by Human Resources.
Background Checks
All persons hired as employees must submit to a background check. Job postings should indicate the specific background checks required for the position. The background check process is managed in Workday. Background Checks and Substance Abuse Testing policy can be found at Fayetteville Policies and Procedures 402.1.
