Recreational Facilities
The department of University Recreation (UREC) is a major campus-wide service unit in the Division of Student Affairs. UREC serves the university community by providing a diverse selection of recreational opportunities and facilities across campus.
The Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) building serves as the department's main facility. Highlights include the Donna Axum Fitness Center, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, four basketball courts, an indoor track, group fitness studios, functional training areas, racquetball courts, bouldering and climbing walls, UREC Outdoors (located in HPER 102), equipment rentals, and locker and shower facilities.
Auxiliary facilities include:
The UREC Fitness Center (located on the second floor of the Arkansas Union)
- 6,000 square feet of fitness floor space
- 1,500 square foot group exercise room
- Cardo and strength training equipment
- Locker and shower facilities
The UREC Sports Complex (fields at Mitchell Street)
- Four intramural fields
- 1 club field
- 2 sand volleyball pits

Open recreation opportunities
The
UREC Tennis Center
is
expected to
open
in the spring of 2022
and will be located
at the corner
of Indian Trail and
MLK
Blvd. This facility will include 12 lighted courts and two backboards.
