Awards and Recognition
Employee recognition is a cornerstone to the employee experience at the U of A. While individual colleges, departments, and units may have their own recognition and appreciation programs, Human Resources hosts two university-wide programs for staff.
Employee Service Awards
Annually, employees are recognized every fifth year of service at the Staff Appreciation Banquet. Employees select a service award gift, are recognized on stage with the Chancellor, and enjoy a complimentary dinner with their supervisor and a guest.
Career Service Payments
Employees in full-time appointed positions (excluding faculty) become eligible for career service recognition payments after 10+ years of service. Previous service at another state agency or state-supported institution counts toward eligibility with proof of prior service. Learn more on the Career Service Payments page.
Staff Senate Awards
Staff Senate hosts recognition, appreciation, and reward programs throughout the year. Programs include Employees of the Quarter, Employees of the Year, Part-Time Employee Awards, Outstanding Staff Team Awards, Staff Appreciation Week, and the Staff Celebration Picnic. Learn more about Staff Senate.
Faculty Recognition
The Office of Faculty Affairs hosts faculty recognition and appreciation programs. Learn more on the Faculty Affairs site.
