The Trail Ahead

The university is dedicated to creating a positive onboarding experience as new employees
join the campus. The Trail Ahead is the comprehensive 12 month onboarding program
for new faculty and staff as they begin their career at the U of A. From day one through
an employees first year, they will have access to multiple programs that will help
them become familar with the university, build connections with other employees across
campus, and set themselves up for long term success.

This is the first official event new employees are invited to. NEO is an interactive, in-person training designed to help you gain new insights and information about your new work home (beyond your unit).
Register for New Employee OrientationNew Supervisor Orientation
Open to all supervisors, New Supervisor Orientation is a four-hour/half-day, interactive training that is geared towards new supervisors with foundational knowledge and practical guidance for managing people at the University of Arkansas. Sessions are capped at 24 participants and offered every three weeks on alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registration is required.

The teaching and faculty support center host New Faculty Orientation each Fall semester. This day long orientation helps introduce faculty to the university at large and connects them with resources to be successful.

Building connections is essential on your journey through the Trail Ahead. That is why New Employee Networking Events are hosted three times per year (March, July, and October). Employees in their first year will recieve invitations directly from the Office of Human Resources.

The Virtual Employee Resource Fair, held each Fall and Spring semester, connects participants with campus support services (such as facilities, information technology services, etc...) to ask questions, learn about available resources, and make connections outside of their immediate department.

Benefits Orientation, held every other Wednesday, includes detailed benefits information on insurance and retirement options. You have 31 days from your appointment date to enroll in benefits. This session will give you all the information you need to complete your enrollment.
