Human Resources job family attracts, develops, and retains a diverse, dynamic, healthy, and productive workforce through the development and delivery of integrated and effective programs, services, and policies.
Employee Relations
Designs, implements, assesses, and administers the University's employee relations
policies and practices related to performance management, employee development, employee
engagement, attendance, and responding to employee concerns. Supports employee relations
needs by providing consultative and training services to managers/supervisors and
employees. Communicates and interprets human resources policies and procedures for
managers and employees.
HR Operations
Responsible for employee services and operations of the Human Resource functional
area within the institution.
HR Partners and Support
Develops, manages, coordinates, administers, and implements the University's human
resource strategy so that the University attracts, manages, develops, and retains
the employees it needs to achieve its current and future objectives. May serve as
an advisor liaison and functional expert on human resources activities, policies and
procedures for an assigned college, division, or department. May perform responsibilities
across multiple HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, total
rewards, performance management, training and development, and HR administration to
support the overall goals of the organization.
People Services
Ensures all interactions with staff, faculty or students are positive and that employees
feel valued. Provides critical day-to-day operational support, helping to create a
more positive and efficient work setting for employees. Serves as the first point
of contact for employees who have general Human Resources questions and provides support
and services to new faculty, staff and students by ensuring required onboarding documentation
is completed timely and accurately. Helps new employees become familiar with the university
and its processes and systems, and prepares them with the tools, information, and
resources needed to begin their employment with the university. Manages and maintains
accurate and current employee records and other compliance documentation, generates
reports, and maintains confidentiality and compliance with confidential records.
Policy and Ethics
Dedicated to the continuous review, updating, and maintenance of the institution’s
HR policies. In collaboration with the General Counsel's Office, the Office of Equal
Opportunity and Compliance (OEOC), and other key stakeholders, ensures that all HR
policies are current, legally compliant, and aligned with the institution's strategic
objectives. Provides oversight of the operation of several critical policies, including
background checks, protection of minors, and hiring of NRAs. Supports the institution
in fostering a fair and efficient workplace environment.
Talent Acquisition
Develops and implements recruitment and selection strategies for the institution.
Coordinates activities for organizational recruiting such as placing job announcements,
attending job fairs, performing pre-employment screenings and verifications. May advise
on issues of concern and university hiring policies, fair recruitment procedures and
general employment law (Title VII, ADA, Fair Labor Standard Act, etc.) as it pertains
to talent acquisition and onboarding.
Talent and Organizational Development
Develops and implements training and career development policies and programs. Reviews
the University's structures, processes, and long-term plans, implements training and
career development programs, designs and manages the University's performance measurement
system, plans for leadership and management succession, and conducts employee research.
Total Rewards
Designs, implements, assesses, and administers compensation, classification, benefits
and leaves programs, processes, and policies. Provides governance structure, guidelines,
benchmarking and analytics to promote and maintain integrity, structure, and consistency
to all total reward categories for employees.
