Teamwork Series: Understanding the Team as a System
Date/Time Wednesday, April 11, 2012
2:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Description This series will help you achieve positive teamwork outcomes in a constructive, productive environment.

This module will familiarize participants with the important structural elements of a team. Through video analysis and interactive activities, you will learn about team characteristics, types of teams, effective types of teams in the workplace, teams as a system, system qualities, and the Interact System Model. The content of this program will assist you in understanding the workings and compositions of a team so that problems can be nipped in the bud and properly diagnosed and solved once they arise.

As team members, you will acquire the ability to recognize and solve team problems that impede progress. As team leaders, you will be able to assemble productive teams, and your understanding of the team as a system will enable you to prevent problems before they disrupt the work of the team. In addition, knowing the importance of all team members will encourage team leaders to ensure that everyone's opinions are sought, that no team member feels left out, that everyone is included in the decision-making process, and that team decisions are truly supported by all. Human resource professionals will benefit from learning how to work with a team as a system for work with their own teams and the training of others.
