eDocAmerica
The University of Arkansas is pleased to announce an enhancement to the QualChoice
health plan - eDocAmerica. This enhancement will be immediately available to all
employees and their family members enrolled in the University of Arkansas QualChoice
Health Plan.
HOW TO ACCESS eDoc America:
University employees must access eDoc America's website via the website for Qualchoice. Once logged in, click on the "QCare" link on the left-hand side of the screen, and then click on the "Ask eDoc" icon to access eDoc America.
With eDocAmerica, access to board-certified physicians and licensed psychologists
has never been easier or more convenient. You can now have your medical questions
answered by highly qualified physicians using secure e-mail. If you have access
to the Internet, you have access to a physician who can answer your questions and
assist you in making the health care choices affecting you and your entire family.
You choose your own screen name and password so your health information always remains
confidential between you and the physician. The last four digits of your Social
Security Number will be used as your identifying number for your initial enrollment.
Using eDocAmerica is easy and provides unlimited access for you and your family.
After completing the one-time registration and a brief medical profile you can e-mail
a physician at www.eDocAmerica.com
as often and whenever you wish. Register yourself first and then register each member
of your family. You are guaranteed a response within 24 hours with most responses
arriving in 3-4 hours.
Many of us are tired of searching the Internet for important medical information
only to find that it is difficult to determine which of the thousands of sites and
articles apply to our conditions. eDoc physicians will provide you the information
you need and will also provide links to information sites that they have already
reviewed for application to your personal situation.
Another feature of eDocAmerica is a weekly health tip that will be e-mailed to all
registered participants. The health tips are weekly digests of current and important
medical news and information that will aid you in making healthier lifestyle choices
and assist in understanding how current health issues affect you and your family.
Human Resources will provide eDocAmerica with employee e-mail addresses for use
in an initial notification from eDoc as well as the weekly health tips.
A third feature of eDocAmerica will be access to a Nurse Call advice line 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. Employees and their covered dependents can call a toll-free
number (1-866-842-5365) if their issues require a more immediate response or if
they do not have internet access. You do not have to register online for this service.
Help is available in both English and Spanish.
The cost of eDocAmerica will be paid for in full by the health plan. There will be
no direct charge to the employee. Participation in eDocAmerica is fully voluntary
and not meant to replace your visits with your physicians. eDocAmerica is meant
to supplement the services of your regular physicians by providing you with access
to qualified physicians and nurses for answers to medical-related questions you
may have.
The University is adding this benefit in the hope that it will help reduce overall
health care costs and provide convenient access to medical advice, thereby making
some office visits unnecessary. Employee may save both time and money by not having
to pay an office visit co-pay or use sick leave time for a doctor visit. The University
benefits through reduced costs to the health plan and less absenteeism.
