On Monday, October 22, 2007, 13 more recipients earned their Diversity Certificates.
Of these 13 recipients. four departments are represented. The first University of Arkansas
administrator, Ashley Tull, also received his certificate. From left to right, back to

On Thursday, June 28, 2007, 11 Diversity Certificate Recipients were recognized for
completing their requirements. Of these 11 recipients, three different departments were
represented. From left to right, back to front, the recipients are William Richards of
Facilities Management, Jeff Puckett of Facilities Management, Juanita Muckleroy with the
Arkansas Union, Bill Kearney of Facilities Management, Mark Crates of Facilities Management,
Audrey Deffebaugh of Facilities Management, Nancy Aufleger of Facilities Management, Jean
Mitchell with the Registrar’s office, Micheala Hensley of Facilities Management, and Carolyn
Fugit of Facilities Management. Not pictured is Robert Brusberg of Facilities Management.

On Monday, January 29, Human Resources recognized nine Diversity Certificate recipients
in the Connections Lounge of the Arkansas Union at 3:00 p.m. These nine Diversity
Certificate recipients join the ranks of 19 other members of the University community
that have earned their certificates, which totals 28 since April of 2006. Those
being recognized on January 29 represent three different departments on campus:
Sandra Thornburg, Carolyn Hicks, Theresa Sims, Robert Allen, Patricia Leming, and
Patrick Murphy with Facilities Management; Christina Higgins and Kristi Funderburg
with Alumni; and Teresa Haven with the Center for Students with Disabilities.
Anita Taffner, Chris Shapley, and Maria Gonzalez
Three more Facilities Management employees have completed their requirements for
diversity certificates and were presented with those certificates in the Connections
Lounge of the Arkansas Union on December 15, 2006. Chris Shapley, Maria Gonzalez,
and Anita Taffner received their certificates at this ceremony. Congratulations
Chris, Maria, and Anita, and thank you for your commitment to diversity.
Judy Kendrick, Cat Hopkins, Frankie Rhudy, Shirley Claypool, Patty Eckman, Sharon
Davis, Felisha Perrodin, Karen Barker, and Kent Perrodin
Ten Housing employees completed requirements for their diversity certificates and
were presented with those certificates at Futrall Hall on September 28, 2006. Karen
Barker, Felisha Perrodin, Judy Kendrick, Cat Hopkins, Kent Perrodin, Frankie Rhudy,
Patty Eckman, Shirley Claypool, Sharon Davis, and Carla Gray received their certificates
at this ceremony. Thank you and congratulations, Karen, Felisha, Judy, Cat, Kent,
Frankie, Patty, Shirley, Sharon, and Carla.
Angela Monts and Melissa Bowen
Alumni staff, Angela Monts and Melissa Bowen, completed their requirements for their
diversity certificates and were presented those certificates at the Alumni House
on September 22, 2006. Congratulations Angela and Melissa and thank you for your
commitment to diversity on campus.
Sendra French
Facilities Management - July 17, 2006

Sendra French, Plant Maintenance Supervisor for Facilities Management, has earned
her diversity certificate, and it was presented to her on Wednesday, July 17, 2006
in the Connections Lounge in the Arkansas Union. Sendra’s certificate was the first
to be earned for the Division of Finance and Administration, and Dr. Don Pederson,
Dr. Barbara Taylor, and Mr. Mike Johnson were there to celebrate this accomplishment.

Donna Shumate and Mary Hires
The first two diversity certificates have been earned by and awarded to Mary Hires
of Mullins Library, and Donna Shumate of Housing. Mary’s award was presented to
her on May 30, 2006, and Donna’s was presented to her on June 5, 2006. Both of these
recipients have put a lot of hard work into learning about diversity, volunteering
for community service in order to serve people who are different than they are,
and by providing a plan for continued support of the diversity initiative here at
the University of Arkansas. Congratulations, Mary and Donna, and thank you.
